Are you passionate about preserving local history? We are looking for skilled individuals to join the board of directors for 1-year terms. The board meets virtually every month with committee meetings quarterly or as needed.

Description

The mission of Kawartha Lakes Museum and Archives (KLMA)  is  to operate a community museum for the purpose of preserving and presenting the diverse history and culture of the City of Kawartha Lakes, in the larger context of the Province and Country in which we live. Our Museum is composed of several collections that support our mission and vision: archives, library, artifacts, digital content, and human contacts. We are a charitable organization dedicated to inspiring interest, involvement and investment in heritage and culture.

Since our beginnings in 1957, we have amassed over 28,000 items that are housed and showcased in the historic former Victoria County jail constructed in 1863.

The KLMA is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization that is governed by a board of directors and a Managing Director, supported by staff hired through grant contracts. Committees have been established to address collections and curation, board nominations, and human resources. The board meets virtually every month for up to two hours.
