The Kawartha Lakes Museum & Archives (KLMA) is committed to providing an open forum to discuss and debate issues that range from natural history to world cultures. You can add comments on our website and you are encouraged to engage with us on our social media platforms listed below. The purpose of online communication at the KLMA is to build connections with our communities through conversations. Conversations enabled by social media help to achieve many important goals including:

Building connections with our community by fostering direct, timely, and responsive dialogue

Enhancing the museum’s public profile by increasing awareness and understanding of the KLMA as a resource of expertise in our research and collections areas.

The KLMA adheres to the below user policy on all social media channels:

The KLMA welcomes your comments and encourages all of our users to express their opinions freely and enter into informed debate. Please note that you are individually responsible for the content of your comments. Our community is diverse and all ages. Opinions expressed in posts not administered by the KLMA are not necessarily those of the KLMA and its staff. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of these posts.

We encourage dialogue and conversation and want our social media platforms to be an open and honest forum. That being said, we also want posts to be courteous, positive, and content should be for an 'all-ages' audience and should not cause offence.

We reserve the right to delete any of the following content and block users who share such content:

Violent, obscene, profane, hateful or racist posts, links or images

Comments that threaten or defame any person or organization

Solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or not-for-profit organizations, websites, contests or promotions

Comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity

Multiple successive off-topic posts by a single user

Repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users

KLMA Social Media Community Guidelines

These guidelines are in place to help create a safe environment on all social media channels run by the KLMA.

The KLMA is committed to providing an open forum to discuss and debate issues on the topics of art, culture and nature.

We ask that anyone engaging with our social media channels shows courtesy, kindness and respect for all other members of our social media communities

By engaging with our social media channels you agree to follow these guidelines:

Comments must not:

Contain spam, be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, contain offensive language, threatening, abusive, hateful, inflammatory or promote sexually explicit material or violence.

Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.

Breach any of the terms of any of the social media platforms themselves.

Be off-topic, irrelevant or unintelligible.

Contain any advertising or promote any services.

Breach of guidelines

We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, whether contributions to our social media channels breach our guidelines. We reserve the right to hide or delete comments made on our channels, as well as block users who do not follow these guidelines.

We also reserve the right to send any comments we deem appropriate to law enforcement authorities for investigation as we feel necessary or is required by law.
